



Victor Vieth JD, MA, is the Chief Program Officer for Education & Research for Zero Abuse Project, a founding board member of GRACE, and a board member for Voice of the Middle Ground. He is a former child abuse prosecutor and spearheaded the implementation of 22 state and international forensic interviewing courses and in the development of the developing Child Advocacy Studies (CAST) undergraduate and graduate programs. Dr. Vieth is the presenter for the “Race, Religion, and Trauma” webinar.
Jemour A. Maddux, PsyD, ABPP, is a postdoctoral instructor in forensic psychology and core faculty in the Doctor of Psychology Program at William Paterson University of New Jersey. His research surrounds the convergence of trauma and justice. Dr. Maddux is the past president of the New York State Psychological Association’s Forensic Division, and he served two terms on the board of directors for the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC), initiating its Commission for Racial Justice in Child Maltreatment. Dr. Maddux has also consulted for the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice. He coedited the text Assessing Trauma in Forensic Contexts and has provided editorial leadership for Springer’s Psychological Injury and Law, Oxford’s Best Practices in Forensic Mental Health Assessments, and the American Psychology-Law Society’s interdisciplinary book series through APA Books.
Bettye Mitchell is a nationally recognized leader in organization and program development with 45+ years of experience for older adults, persons with disabilities, and victims of abuse and trauma. Bettye served in every level of direct service and management including Texas State Director for Adult Protective Service, Deputy Commissioner for Long Term Care Programs and the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. Mitchell served as the former President of the National Committee for the Prevention of Elder Abuse, the founding President of the National Adult Protective Service Foundation, and Vice President of the National Adult Protective Service Association. Bettye is a panelist for the “Race, Religion, and Trauma” webinar and is a board member of GRACE.
Ruth Jefferson is the Executive Director of Voice of the Middle Ground, where she utilizes her creative strategy expertise to foster community and connection. With a passion for cultivating supportive spaces, Ruth collaborates with church communities and believers to promote healing and reconciliation. Her personal experiences with the complexities of healing have given her a deep appreciation for the transformative role that faith and the Church can have in this journey. Ruth is a panelist for the “Race, Religion, and Trauma” webinar.
